How Stress Affects Our Memory

Every day we experience different pressures and stress. Most of those who have duties and tasks are the ones most likely to become stressed. These could be students, parents or employees. But not all stress has a negative effect. It can even improve your work capacity, and increase your adrenaline.

A recent study shows that stress can affect memory. It was first tested in animal models and shows that the short-term stress or physical can improve memory and learning. The researchers used mice as an animal model and found that stress can produce beneficial effects on memory skills. The experiment showed that the release of stress hormones have an effect on the brain's prefrontal cortex, which is the region of the brain that controls learning and emotion. It also shows that stress increases the transmission of the neurotransmitter glutamate and improves memory.

Yan Zhen, a professor of biophysics and physiology, says that "stress hormones that much damage and the protection of the effects on the body." It also says it depends on how a person may be able to use it for good or to become stress. To test the effect of stress hormones in memory, Yan and colleagues trained rats in a maze until they successfully complete about 70 to 80 percent. After two days of training rats, which were placed in a forced swim 20 minutes to reach the tension, then were put through the maze to see the results. And it shows that stressed rats committed fewer errors compared to rats without stress.

The researchers also determined that the stressed rats did not experience any increase in depression or anxiety-related behavior. As a result, Yan pointed out that chronic stress can suppress the transmission of glutamate in the frontal cortex of rats.

Stress hormones directly affect brain learning and emotional region. To us whether we will use it as learning, which can improve our skills and memory, or allow emotional depression are on the road. It depends on how people relate to living with stress. Learn the techniques of stress management can bring more advantages than disadvantages.

In addition, stress is common for anyone. Relaxing and stress as the adrenaline will help improve their work capacity. However, you also need to have some rest and relaxation and that chronic stress is different from acute stress. Chronic stress can affect your mental health and can lead to negative effects on learning and emotion.
